[00:01:02] This week, I had a little short YouTube short on What my life was like in the last week that you can go see in the show notes. If you’re interested in that and let’s just get right to the Expat news.

[00:01:15] Some hostels in China. So then an upper age limit for guests. Which is sparking a lot of debate. The policy was brought in after a 50 year old guests fell off a bunk bed and required hospital treatment. So some places in China, are actually not allowing anybody over 30 to go. So if you’re going over there, just be aware of that.

[00:01:38] 10 tips to avoid being labeled an ignorant tourist, this applies to expats as well. I think the truth is when you travel locals know you’re a visitor and when you’re an expat as well. And the best thing to do is really enjoy your time in a foreign land, is really try to fit in and make connections with locals and not try to hide from them.

[00:01:59] I found [00:02:00] this true. Now living over six years, six-and-a-half years living in Mexico. Now I fit in a lot. And in fact, most all my neighbors are all Mexican. I know. I don’t have any expat people really close. I do meet them of course, but it’s just to fit in, but after a while you do.

[00:02:25] Mexico pesos surges to strongest levels since 2015. This has made my life a little bit more expensive in Mexico I’m not gained as much money when I transfer my USD over to pesos. At all. And we’re looking at an 18 peso by the ends year, bankers are predicting as well, which is going to be a little bit better for me. And hopefully it returns back to its previous record before this all started happening and going down.

[00:02:56] Also I have an article on our readers favorite resorts in [00:03:00] Mexico of 2023. If you’re interested in visiting some resorts, got lots of them down here in Mexico to visit.

[00:03:07] And the trend for the summer is to travel within Mexico. Great article. I really totally agree with it. I live in Mexico full time and I still vacation here.

[00:03:17] Because there’s so much to explore. And there’s plenty to do, and I just haven’t gotten bored yet. The need to go somewhere else.

[00:03:25] I also have a list of Mexico’s 45 new magic towns, magical towns. That they’ve just unveiled. Some mere me, which I’m going to check out, but all over the country. And these are our towns that have something unique about them. Maybe they’re colonial architecture. They’re in a touristy zone.

[00:03:50] They had cenotes around here, maybe. It’s something unique about them, that when you go there, it’s really nice. And so there’s some certain rules Mexico has [00:04:00] regarding all of that. And some of them that I’ve been to at definitely been worth visiting. So we got 45 new ones.

[00:04:06] And 3.2, 6 million foreign visitors entered Mexico just in May of this year, just to put in perspective.

[00:04:14] And there was a big smoking ban that happened a few months ago in Mexico. Where you couldn’t smoke anywhere in public whatsoever. And restaurants have changed that. Now you can smoke at a restaurant.

[00:04:29] This smoking ban still applies to everything else. You can’t even smoke in your own home if you had anybody under 18. So it’s a big change, but it looks like restaurants fought to get that back because it hurt their business.

[00:04:44] That’s it this week for today’s episode. And thanks for being part of Expat Rebel. This would just not be possible without all of you.
